Day One-A Case of Overkill

Wow, lots of reading today just remember any time we spend in the Word is well worth it. The Word is alive and actively changes us from the inside out. I love Ephesians 5:26(Message) His Words evoke her beauty!
In 1 Samuel 26 we see David make the wise choice once again. Did you catch that in v.12 that it was the LORD who put Saul and his men into a deep sleep. I wonder how aware at that time David was of that or if he just thought they were being super sneaky?
I really liked v23 &24 The Lord gives his own reward for doing good and for being loyal, and I refused to kill you even when the Lord placed you in my power, for you are the Lord’s anointed one. Now may the Lord value my life, even as I have valued yours today. May he rescue me from all my troubles.” If we would only remember this in our daily relationships. Value life. I know we could so jump on this topic with the topic being abortion but thats not what i am referring to here. What about just how we treat our family, friends, acquaintances, enemies in the dailiness of life. Do we treat them in a way that they are valued that we know that at the end of the day we can say "I valued people today so i can rest assured that God will value me." Ugh, i know i don't.
Well i am almost out of time but will mention that, ugh, i felt so heavy hearted for David in ch.27! I really connected with what she said on the bottom of pg.74. Can you relate?
I gotta run, lots of ground covered today, feel free to share!

Is anybody out there?

Okay so by a show of hands, who is behind in their study of David? We did not watch the video this morning so i was thinking if everyone needed some time to catch up i happen to know the person who can make that happen. So either leave me a comment or keep your hand up in the air... (Megan i keep forgetting to bring the videos to you-someone (Casey & Emily) help me remember!!!) Please update me on your status....Much love!

Sidenote

So heard this song this morning on my ipod, its an oldie but a goodie! It made me think of day 3 & how i have been praying for you to see God pursuing you through out your day, so thought i would share! The video is a little different; but i ended up getting a little teary at the end at just the thought of God using his people from all sorts of different walks of life.

Day Three-Count Your Many Blessings

I thought this day was quite refreshing!
Good to know God doesn't mind when we go back to ask him a second time "so did i hear you right? you want me to do..." Did you catch that David actually did this twice in this one chapter 1Samuel 23:1-4 and then again 1Samuel 23:10-12. I love it! Have you ever had to work on a project or even just making plans for the day with a friend and it maybe took a few calls back and forth before you had the details of your plan worked out. You probably didn't hesitate to pick up the phone because you were needing to make sure you were both on the same page. Can you imagine what our lives would be like if we got up every morning and asked God what the plan is for the day and then continued to follow up through out the day. How do you think your day would be different? I'm guessing we would have some head on collisions with blessings and oppurtunities to bless. What do you think?
Hooray! God sent some encouragement to David through Jonathan- AGAIN! I hope you are catching how relentless God is with us, He wants us to understand He has a plan for us and He wants us to be in on it, its not always as mysterious as we think. I pray that today God would give you eyes to see and ears to hear how God is encouraging you!
Anybody else find it crazy that Jonathan found David no problemo but Saul is chasing him around mountains? Mmmm.
Okay, so this week i apparently am remembering every little phrase i've ever learned. HA! I don't even like catchy little phrases!!!! UGH! So here it is for today "We are to blessed to be stressed!" TA DA! Yah, when we count our many blessings it makes it hard, well hardER to say woe as me. True or false?
Farewell dear ones for now!

Day Two-The Inhumanity of Humanity

Day two really stretches my mind. One of the things i so love about the WORD is that this is all for real, real flesh and blood people struggling to live for God. He gives us examples of people like David and Paul that we can so relate to and take comfort in knowing that they were not SuperHumans and God greatly loved them and used them. That being said we have to take the good with the bad and wrap our minds around the fact that Saul had 85 priests and their entire families slaughtered. Ugh.
What kind of person do you think this "Doeg the Edomite" was? Remember he was a shepherd not a warrior. Part of me wants to think maybe he was insecure and was desperate to somehow fit in? But then to think of someone who is insecure picking up a sword over & over & over... Was he greedy and just wanted on Saul's good side? Maybe he was just plain crazy. I know its hard to imagine what could have possibly going on in his head but its worth pondering to see if we can learn from him, like what not to do. The phrase keeps running through my head "If you don't teach your children to stand for something they will fall for anything." Is anyone tracking with me here? What do you think?
So how did our David respond to all this evil? I think when David wrote Psalm 52 he was pretty much reminding himself (you will come to see he does that a lot!) of truths he already knew.
1) He tattle-taled on Saul to God
2)He reminded himself that God would not let Saul go unpunished
3)He knew that God was & is still watching out for him
4)He reminded himself God is good
Good stuff. Do you think you would struggle with one of these things more than others? #1 is a bit of a challenge for me. David reminded himself that it was not his fault that all those people were killed it was all on Saul. The enemy would have loved for David to feel the weight of that on his shoulders, can you even imagine how that would slow us down?
Lots of good stuff in here!
